Can anyone tell me if this is normal or am I doing something wrong? I get a lot of tags/fussies after the rough cut and after the finished cut. I am trying to uploaded a photo of one.

too many variables but a dull bit, incorrect tool-path direction, incorrect species of wood, incorrect step-over are just a few to investigate. Picture not large enough to see detail. Please give more details.
Have a Blessed day,

End mill is new and bn has been used for around 10 projects.( maybe its time for a new one) Rough cut with .25 end mill stepover=.125, finish with .125 BN stepover= .065, hard maple 1.75". Tool path is default for each bit.

is it poplar?
Hard maple, at least that's what they told me when I bought it.

Your finish stepover should be 10% of your bit diameter. So if you're using a .125" ballnose, you should use .012" stepover. Even then you may have some fuzzies to sand out.
CarveWright Model C
Stratos Lathe
Jet 1014
Half-a-Brain
I use a much smaller stepover .012
I will even finish with a 1/16 tool and a stepover of .005
Even after that - there is a little cleanup needed.
It's just the nature of wood.
Thanks everyone. I will adjust my stepover and try it again.
