If you have a machine shop and use carbide cutters, you may want to try metal cutting inserts to cut wood. I had some high feed milling inserts, both round and square that were used for metal...
Ditto, no problems with my machine either. I did have a slight problem with the "bounce back" but loosing the locking nut about 1/8 of a turn fixed that.
I guess I may have a change of heart. My Airshield is a couple of years old. I called Trend yesterday and they are replacing the headband, no questions asked. I really hope this one is stronger than...
I agree, but I don't have a problem with the battery life since the head band breaks long before the battery goes dead!
For those using the Airshield , any problems with the headband breaking? I haven't used it that often and I am on my third one. Each gets a few hours of use then breaks.
Those are really nice!! Great job.
I turned a couple this weekend one natural edge and one bowl. The grain is really nice with some spalting. Put the rough outs in a cardboard box with wood chips....
Will give it a try. The grain is very attractive, would hate to make it all firewood.
I cut a piece up and rough turned a bowl from it. The piece was still green, it was somewhat difficult to turn. Dulls tools quickly. It has really open grain, so I am sure it is going to crack as it...
Yesterday, we had to take down a very large sawtooth oak tree. It was at least 60' tall and it had a double trunk. The front side of the tree had died. It looks like it has some nice spalting...
I have found when using the Beall system with lacquer you have to watch how much pressure you put on the wood. I was buffing a hollow form and must have pushed a little too hard and the lacquer...
I turn quite a bit of NIP. I coat the end with Anchor Seal and let them sit for 2-3 months. That allows spalting that gives the different colors and I think it more pleasing. It also dries out so you...
From the reviews that I have read, the Airshield Pro has some known issues with the headband breaking. I bought mine last October and has broken twice already. I will admit, their service has been...
i built my system from Veneer supplies, they have a lot of info on this site:

This is for a vacuum press but the principle is the same....
