Ken,It sounds to me like the problem is in the speed control.dial It should have enough tension to keep the sliding side of the v/s pulley from moving on its own.
Ken, does the speed control handle move as the lathe accelerates by itself?
Sulphur Grove does carry tires for the 20" Delta that has the center rib and are the same thickness as the OEM tire.I have a set and really like them.
Try Sulphur Grove Tool in Florida .I bought a pair of 20" urethane with the rib for my 20" Delta.
That is an interesting concept and flawless execution as usual.

I can't speak about the thin flat urethane tires,but, the urethane tires I have on my 20" delta are crowned and the same thickness and rib as the OEM tires and I have had zero problems with them.
Sulphur Grove Tools in Florida sells crowned urethane tires with the inside rib for the Delta wheel groove.I have a Delta 28-350 with these and like them much better than the overpriced OEM tires.I...
