Thanks for that information, Skip. I'm a sucker for old chisels, so I picked one up for a price (with shipping) that was just a bit better. eBay item #322333019025.

The slots AND the metal-line hole are for the holdfasts that are sold with the bench. Sjoberg benches use a holdfast with a flat bar, rather than a round rod.
Yes these blades are more expensive. In my mind they are worth it. It is similar to using a fine plane. I smile a little each time I pick up my Lie Nielsen smoother. Same with a fine kitchen...
If you'd like a really fine kitchen knife, consider a Japanese tanged blade. These are meant for a traditional "wa" handle.

My Wiha arrived yesterday tool. Comfy handle, seems really solid. It sure beats my ratty collection of screwdrivers.
Thanks for the fine tool, Tom. I'll have to get a set of them.
I'd love one as well. Thanks!

I have a small 10.5 inch Inca bandsaw. I couldn't ask for anything more from such a small saw. They seem to pop up on CL once in a while, at least around here. A guy had one for sale last month...
In my area anyways, vintage drill presses show up on Craigslist all the time. My Walker Turner 900 cost $100, and was an easy refurb. I love this drill press, but will agree that the lack of a...
