The answer is simple. Keep both. lol
I still have not mounted my vise. It's still in that same box, up on a shelf.
I have a Record 53 (or two) also waiting to be mounted.
Thanks for all the replies.
The two widow ladies that live on either side of this standing dead tree are both afraid it will fall on their house. However, it's a hundred yards from either of...
My neighbor (widow) has a standing dead tree she wants dropped. However, it has a huge honey bee hive in a holllow limb about 20' high.
I've talked with two beekeepers and one said to drop it...
Glue a fat piece on the stile where you sanded it too far down and recut it to size. With a tight fit, you'll never see it.
Scott, in your image, is that one of your doors on the ground there in front? Then you are going with two doors on the 20' kiln? Got any more pics, perhaps with a larger image size?
Thanks! ...
Not every piece of pine has to have its pitch set. Those with pitch pockets - sure. Those with heavy pitch - sure. Those that won't be subjected to temps higher than they experienced while are...
The thicker you leave it, the longer it will take to dry. Perhaps you can resaw it to thinner boards if you don't need full thickness.
Oh… and 1" thick pine dries pretty fast. You'll be able to...
Looks good! In your first post, the 4th pic, what are the 3 formed pieces for that are inside your perimeter forms?
No one with first hand experience?
What do y'all think about the 12" fan on this page:

I'm thinking 3 of them. There aren't any specs for CFM in the Virginia Tech design. Kind of...
You've just invented the vertical orange lumber racks at Home Depot. I called a local warehouse rack place in Houston several years ago and bought 3 used sets of them. $250/each. Done. They might...
That's tempting, but sealing would be more difficult.
The doors will be more like 5'6" tall by 8' wide. I'm now wondering if bottom-hinged doors, doubling as ramps might not be a bad idea.
Or maybe I'll just make them removable so I can...
Because that just oozes of costing a whole lot more money.
I'm planning a solar kiln. I need advice on support for the rear of the kiln above where the doors will go. I want a clear door opening of about 16'4".
First, my assumptions. I want to be...
What was the "as cut" thickness, what was the thickness once dried, and what is the final thickness? How did you plane it down when preparing the top?
Thanks, Todd
I have not yet. I'll be cutting more soon and I need to restack this stack when I do. I'll treat both stacks then.
Not sure. I have an AD751, purchased early 2004. 10HP 3PH. Paid around $14,100 for it new (before add on options). I saw one a few years ago for sale for around $5-6K I think. Not sure what...
Let us know when you try out that drill attachment. I'm in the market for one. Looks pretty good. Might not be the fastest way to sharpen a drill on the planet though.
Todd
Anybody using one of these jigs with their Tormek? I've watched their video. Looks reasonable. I have a lot of dull drill bits. I have a Tormek setup already.
Thanks, Todd
John, did you ever find a source?
Here's the stack of lumber I got out of the 3 pecan logs.

This is a 10"x10"x12.5' oak beam. Not sure what I'll do with it yet. Cut it as a exercise in getting the max out of a log....
Well I'm still collecting (and cutting) logs.
3 post oaks waiting for me to go pick up. The one I am measuring is 18' long.

4 post oaks from storm damage.
I picked up a couple sizable hackberry logs last week. Tree blew over back in May 2016 and died over the course of the summer. I'll slab both the trunk sections I got. The spalting looks to be...
