As slow as my DP would go.
I have tried to sharpen the reamer, but that has yielded only a marginal improvement. Still not enough bite to enlarge the diameter the 1/8" inch I need. Could well be...

Thanks for the replies, guys. And yes, I did drill a 1/2" hole first, and am trying to ream the mortise enough to get the smaller diameter to be about 9/16 or 5/8. (When I said I can get to 75%, I...
Neat idea.
And if you haven't seen it yet, you might find this entertaining: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUHgGK-tImY
I'm having some trouble boring tapered mortises in some 1 5/8" hard maple with my drill press. I'm using the large LV Standard Taper Reamer. I can get about 75% of the way through, and then if I put...
Anyone know of a tutorial on what proper Reeves drive maintenance consists in?
Acetic acid works well for cleaning uncured epoxy off tools, etc. And it is both cheap and safe enough to put on your salad.
The Rigid 4511 is the one with the granite top, so the retrofit may not be quite so straightforward.
Great! Count me in, too.
Thanks, Christopher

I will just add that this happens to me far more often when it gets cold. Waxing and cleaning helps a lot.
Right. The one I am looking at is green and yellow, and may have a 1.8hp Italian motor. So it probably pre-dates the ACM machines. How do you think it might compare to, say, a new Grizzly 513 series?
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. If I do go ahead with this, it will replace a Jet 14" 1hp saw. Just trying to figure out if it will be worth the money and effort. Anyone know a good place online...
Chris, is yours a 1.5hp motor? If so, has it worked well with the saw? No doubt that the more standard 3hp would be better, I'm just wondering whether 1.5hp is adequate.
And yes, I would love 220v...
That's good news. How about a separate ground? I think that detached buildings need their own grounds, but goes a building connected to the house by a carport typically count as detached?
I am trying to think through getting a subpanel in my shop. (I am tired of tripping the one circuit that runs everything out there now -- which happens more now that it is cold -- and having 220 sure...
Early on, Laguna apparently sold a LT-18 bandsaw with a 1.5hp motor. Does anyone know if it is switchable to 110v? If not, would it make sense to put a 110v 1.5hp motor on it? (In case you couldn't...
How much reason is there to prefer a new canister filter to a used one? For instance, if you were looking at a used Penn State 40" tall 1 micron filter from a professional shop for, say, $125 and a...
Thanks for all the ideas, guys. I am learning a lot (including the word 'intumescent.')
On the infrared heaters -- anyone have any experience with one of the ones that only requires 120v?
I'm afraid this is what happened last year -- I thought "I need to make this shop warmer." Then I started looking into it, and it started looking like a big and expensive project. The long underwear...
Thanks for all the ideas, guys. This is really helpful.
The exposed rigid insulation idea is out (thanks Thom -- no use tempting fate). Unless I put in some kind of ceiling, foil-faced...
