Beautiful design and craftsmanship.
Well, the ratio is pretty much ideal to my way of thinking. I always thought the ideal house would be about 1300 ft2 living area with a 4 car garage and a 2000 ft2 shop!
George,
While I'm not surprised, I am impressed. You should be very proud. Thanks for sharing!

Those make great toast--very uniform, and heavy duty NiCr elements to last a long time. Congrats!
After years of using a toaster oven exclusively, we picked up a KitchenAid 2-slice toaster for ~$40 (or less?). Toasts more uniformly than the toaster over, and does a great job on English muffins...
Here are the fruits of my weekend labor--12 wine racks ready for installation into a cellar under my stairs.

+1 to the Technivorm and a Baratza grinder. I don't roast my own beans, though. The Technivorm uses the right temperature, and does a great job saturating the grounds. I like French Press as...
Absolutely stunning! Congrats on a beautiful heirloom.
I'm fine with your flannels--shirts or robes, whatever. Sorry I can't get past having a carpeted shop.
Wow nicely done! Merry Christmas!
LOL yes indeed. I must admit to feelings of guilt, although I consoled myself with the fact that I'd never listened to most of the records I trashed, and the ones I did were unlistenable.
The Festool track saw worked like a charm. I tried it first with the blade backwards and had a lot of chipping, so decided to try it the "right" way and it worked pretty well. I fashioned a 8 1/2"...
Seems I may be over-complicating this...

Although the records these folks are using breaks my heart (Sonny Rollins, first Beatles pressing)
I'd forgotten about that technique! It sounds like a winner.
Britt,
I haven't totally ruled that out, and I'm also considering a combination where I square up the records to ~11" leaving curved "diamond" spaces between the LPs. I just haven't figured out how...
This is probably the best/cleanest way to do it. I don't have one, however, so I'm going to experiment with what I've got.
The records are cheap. The Festool and Forrest blades aren't, although I doubt that I'd actually ruin one, but gunking them in is a definite possibility.
I'm going to give my track saw a shot...
Good suggestions. I'll keep you posted on my experiments.
Thanks!
I have a project for which I'm considering using 10" square "tiles" made from LP records. My thought is to use my junk LPs and pick up more from Goodwill, et al (I only need about a dozen), machine...
Where in E Bay? I'm in Pleasanton.
Steve,
I'm not sure what to think about the actuarial science on this one. Either I'm pretty stupid for underestimating the risk, or the insurance companies are using us to hedge. And yes, being...
We moved to the Bay Area a couple years ago. I considered earthquake insurance at the time and due to the 20% deductible and ~2.5x premium multiplier decided to take the risk without it. When the...
Festool track saw/MFT/shopvac gets used A LOT. Don't use my tablesaw or bandsaw as much as I thought I would, but they are handy when I need them.
The Festool CMS and 1010 router don't get used...
Absolutely stunning!
