I have the veritas chisels, the LN honing guide fits them perfectly. Also fits standard plan irons just fine.
I will be interested to see what the experts say. I would think a round file would give you way too much concavity and leave the edge too thin. Same with Dremel. You might try 80 grit sand paper...
