Completely agree. But at least try and give the manufacturers a chance to right a wrong.
Keep in mind, though, I haven't gone down that rabbit hole of Japanese tools yet. I've had my eye on some...
While I try not to slander manufacturer's, I really don't correct any issues with their product, but instead ask for a replacement.
If some of our tools were $10, sure. . .take the time to fix it....
Sawdust. Soak up the blood better.
Don't ask how I know.
Why are you still using XP? There's no more security updates coming out for that and browser support for any XP browser has ended.
Oooo, look. . .Stewie and Derek with their Jarrah planes. :D
That is one huge, good lookin' monstrosity. Amazing that stuff is hard enough you need to sharpen your floats.
Depends. . .
I have 3 5's. . .one for just hogging that I'd use to make a tennis ball flat, one I use for just making a bow flat, and one I have for smoothing longer stock. After all, it is a...
Because I love a steep learning curve? :-P
Seriously. . .I'll probably look into other saw sets. For now, though, I'm just building the saw sharpening tools. My 5 1/2TPI ripper was dull as all get...
I'd either use chisels or a saw to remove a lot of that, then use my #51 and shooting board to get rid of the excess.
Oy!
While I would be in your boat of wanting to use lumber that I had a hand in ASAP, it's best to let it age/dry out as much as possible.
Get one of those things that can read the humidity in...
You Aussies and your utility woods. . .
I'm jealous. While white oak and hickory are nice, Jarrah (which I believe that plane to be made from) is so beautiful.
Question:
I bought a hammer saw set off that big-time auction site. Got it all cleaned up with the saw stop able to move and the hammer set swinging. I have a question about what the hole here...
I have the Stanley Sweethearts, and my father gifted me his LN chisels.
The difference is the LNs are heavy, yet balanced. The Stanleys are light, and decently balanced. I went with the 8 piece...
Make that a +2.
I had the super-fine LV DT saw. While not as glamorous as the Bad-Axe saws I have, and maybe not quite as dead-aim accurate, it was a hungry little thing that chewed up wood...
I assume all the other angles are dead on as well?
Seriously, I've been wanting to get a mitre box/saw for a while, but I've never been sure about how well they cut.
Looks very nice, by the way.
SSL certs aren't necessarily for encryption; it's for confirmation that no one has hijacked SMC. They're a trust tool, not an encryption tool. That's just a side effect of the keying process.
...
If you don't want to go with an electric option for keeping humidity (and organics) at bay, when you buy electronics (or most things now days), grab the silica dessicant pack and toss it near your...
I don't suppose there's any chance that SMC will be implementing HTTPS site-wide at any point?
Just curious since there are orgs that will cut SSL certs for free, or at most a very nominal fee.
If you're still looking for a VPN provider, let me know.
I've got an 80M/80M internet connect and am running pfSense as a firewall. I have VPN tunnels set up for IPSec mobile clients (think...
Hmph. I see the sharpening wars are still in full swing.
For OP. . .toss a new blade in a plane. Does it work satisfactorily to you? If not, take it out and play with your stones.
As for...
I've split the beech handle on my 1/2" RI. Made a new one of hickory, hasn't busted yet (and it's a lot more substantial than the beech one that came on it). Of course, keep in mind that I mortise...
The Stanley Sweethearts are decent chisels. I have the 8 piece set, and if I did it again, I would buy them again. I find them decently balanced and easy to work with. When hogging out dovetails, I...
I believe Pat was referring to your BadAxe saws. :)
Anyway, to add something to the thread. . .I agree with Ron. Have the little guy "help" with his own bench. Someone else said their grandfather...
Fairly spiffy, even with the overuse of tailed tools. :-P
Though for some reason, the number of times I saw him pushing a chisel toward a body part made me cringe. I'm generally "meh" when it...
Nice!
How are you doing the veneer? Making it yourself, or getting it from elsewhere?
