Need to make a twin screw vise. Any advice and/or opinions about a pipe clamp vise?

That's pretty much what I had in mind.
I have a seat-of-the-pants workbench on which i built 2 leg vises on one end, but I don't like them very much and want something more practical for everyday use. So I guess the question is more about anyone's experience with a pipe clamp vise--good or bad and maybe suggestions on how to improve.

Search Google images for "DIY Moxon vise pipe clamp". There are a lot of ideas, I added a homemade Moxon vise to a 3 legged sawhorse for when I wanted to work outside on the patio.
