I made this table quite a few years ago for my mother and recently gave it a good cleaning up and another coat of Watco Danish Oil.
Perfect opportunity to photograph it with new (to me) technology :)

Beautiful table! Could you tell us about the joinery?

The joint is basically what became commonly known as the Sam Maloof leg joint.
Instead of gluing it I used a screw from the top so the joint can't slide out. Then I turned rosewood plugs to hide the screw.
The plan was it would be easier to ship in a flat crate.
The wood oval is simply cut out of laminated boards and secured with a spline at the leg junctions.
