turned only 4 bowls on my new G0766 and I get some rocking so should I bolt her down or build a shelf under it and add sand bags or will that even work? I have a bunch of wet black walnut 10 20 30 inch big stuff real heavy and unbalanced till the shavings fly

Jerry, You could add weight as some people have done, I didn't do that. Instead, I try to cut the pieces so it can be some-what ballanced and turn the peice only fast enough that the lathe doesn' walk across the floor until I can get it ballanced ( usually about 300 RPM's ) and then gradually increase the speed.

I favor a ballast box made from 2x4’s and the plywood from the crate that your 0766 came in. Add about 3 - 50lb. Bags of sand, and you will add a lot to stability. Please know that even very large lathe that has heavy, unbalanced blanks of wood will vibrate and shake. Try to cut the blank to make it as balanced as possible before mounting on the lathe.

Thats the thing I like to turn weird shaped logs and blanks I can't always make them round or even

Seems that your style of turning will require you to start at slow rpm's. I have found that there is a harmonic "sweet spot" in selecting rpm's. One can sometimes go up a few or back off a few rpm's and get a better rotation. It is usually within 100 rpm's either way, so be really careful.....you don't want to send a heavy piece flying, and you certainly need a good attachment like faceplate and screws.
